Sixties Vinyl Singles

Vinyl lives!

Vinyl discs have been used to deliver music to the public since the earliest days of sound recording. Although the CD became the mainstream method of delivery more than 20 years ago, and despite the plethora of digital delivery formats that have appeared for use with computers, mobile phones, iPods, iPads and the like, vinyl has refused to go away!

I created this website as a place to put reviews of some of my favourite vinyl singles from the 1960’s. Although many of these have been re-issued on CD or are available digitally from iTunes, Spotify, Amazon MP3 and other online outlets, the mixes are often different from those that were issued as singles in the 60’s. There are many reasons for this, which I will talk about elsewhere. So I decided to make copies of my original vinyl discs, many of which have additional pops, crackles, hiss and other surface noises that were caused by playing these repeatedly in clubs during the 60’s and throughout the 70’s while I worked as a DJ. These noises never really bothered anyone at the time (other than the hi-fi ‘nutters’) and you can really hear how much better these discs sound than almost any of the digital versions available elsewhere.

Vinyl is not dead!
